રાતનાસાડાદસનીઆસપાસનોસમયછે, અગાસીમાંસૂતોછું. પવનનીહલકીલહેરખીવહેછેઅનેઓશીકેમૂકેલારેડિયોમાંથીમૂકેશનાદર્દીલાકંઠેગીતશરૂથાયછે : ઝૂમતીચલીહવા, યાદઆગયાકોઈ… અનેકવિશૈલેન્દ્રનાઆશબ્દોહૃદયમાંપ્રવેશતાજાયછે, તેમતેમઅનાયાસજઆંખનોખૂણોભીંજાવોશરૂથઈજાયછે. આસ્વાનુભવએકકરતાંવધુવખતનોછે, એકકરતાંવધુફિલ્મીગીતોમાટેનોછે. એવાદરેકપ્રસંગેએકજવિચારઆવ્યોછે, “આફિલ્મીગીતોનાહોતતોશુંથાત?” કયાકયાપ્રસંગનાંગીતફિલ્મોએઆપ્યાંછે? ખુશીથાયતોગીત, દુઃખીથઈએતોગીત, મળીએતોગીત, વિખૂટાપડતાંપણગીત, રિસાવાનુંગીતતોમનાવવાનુંયગીત, યુ્દ્ધનુંગાનઅનેદોસ્તીનાંગાયન. વિચારકરુંછુંએમએસવાલથાયછે, આફિલ્મીગીતોનાહોતતોશુંથાત? આપુસ્તકએવાસવાલનાઉત્તરમાંપ્રગટતીઆભારનીલાગણીનુંગ્રંથસ્વરૂપછે.<br />

આપણાદેશનુંએસદ્ભાગ્યહતુંકેદેશઆઝાદથયોએપછીતરતનાદોરમાંફિલ્મીકવિઓરાષ્ટ્રનામાનસનેઘડતાહતા. ગુલામીમાંથીમુક્તથયેલાદેશનેનવેસરથીઘડવાનારાષ્ટ્રીયપડકારનેઅનુરૂપકવિતાએસંક્રાંતિકાળમાંરચાઈ. ભાગલાપછીલોહીનીંગળતારાષ્ટ્રનીપ્રજાનેકોમકોમવચ્ચેનાંવેરભુલાવવામાં, નવાપ્રભાતતરફઆગેકૂચકરવાનાંગાનગવડાવવામાંઆકવિઓએપોતપોતાનીસર્જનશક્તિવાપરીબતાવી.<br />
