	Central figure of the novella, Samudi, a young simple-hearted housemaid from a remote village in North Gujarat, immediately wins the hearts of characters like Harshad, Shantafai, Tejo, etc. – and the readers too– with her playful, talkative, exuberant, hard-working nature.
