Many-Splendoured Love/કર્તાપરિચય
પ્રીતિ શાહ-સેનગુપ્તા ગુજરાતી છે, અને ઘણાં વર્ષોથી ન્યૂયોર્ક શહેરમાં વસે છે. અનેકવિધ કળા-પ્રકારોમાં રસ કેળવી શકવા બદલ એ આ મહાનગરને યશ આપે છે. ધીરે ધીરે કરતાં લેખન અને વિશ્વ-ભ્રમણ એમની બે મુખ્ય પ્રવૃત્તિઓ બની રહી છે.
જેને માટે એ જાણીતાં થયાં છે તે પ્રવાસ-લેખન પર એમનાં ૨૩ પુસ્તકો થઈ ચૂક્યાં છે. તે સિવાય કાવ્ય, નિબંધ અને વાર્તા-સંગ્રહો, તથા બે નવલકથા, બંગાળીમાંથી ચાર અનુવાદો, તેમજ ભારતભરના પોતે લીધેલા ફોટોગ્રાફનું પુસ્તક જોતાં પચાસ જેટલાં પ્રકાશન થવા જાય છે. લેખન માટે એમને ઘણાં પ્રતિષ્ઠિત પારિતોષિક પ્રાપ્ત થયાં છે, તથા રાષ્ટ્રીય અને આંતર્રાષ્ટ્રીય સાહિત્ય-સંગ્રહોમાં એમની કૃતિઓ સ્થાન પામી છે.
વિશ્વના સાતેય મહાખંડ પરના ૧૧૦થી વધારે દેશો ઉપરાંત ચુંબકીય ઉત્તર ધ્રુવ પર પણ એ ગયાં છે. એ છે તો એકલ પ્રવાસી, છતાં એમનાં સતત સંગી હોય છે આનંદ અને વિસ્મય.
“રંગ રંગનો સ્નેહ” એમનો પ્રથમ ઈ-વાર્તાસંગ્રહ છે.
Preety Shah-Sengupta is from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and has been living in New York City for many years. She credits The City for her wide interest in many kinds of art and artistic pursuits. With time, though, she concentrated on writing and travelling throughout the World.
She is mostly known as a rtavel writer. She has 23 books based on her travels. At the same time, she has collections of poems, essays, and short stories, along with two novels, four translations of Bengali novels and a book of photographs of India, totalling nearly 50 books. She has been bestowed many prestigious prizes for her writing, and her work is included in National as well as International Anthologies.
As a traveller she has been to over 110 countries, and all seven continents, plus the magnetic north pole. She travels all by herself, joy and wonder being her only companions.
While she has a collection of poems in english, “Many-Splendoured Love” is her first short story collection in english so far.
