The Calcutta Municipal Gazette: Tagore Memorial Supplemant, Ed. Amal Home, September 13, 1941. See: The Last Days of Rabindranath, Buddhadeva Basu; Tagore at Oxford, Shahid Suhrawardi; A Chronicle of Eighty Years.

Rabindranath Tagore: A Centenary Volume, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, ૧૯૬૧. (Tagore on the Banks of the River Plate:Victoria Ocampo; Father as I knew Him: Rathindranath Tagore)

૨. વિશ્વકવિ અને બંગાળી

Rabindranath Tagore: Poet and Dramatist, Edward Thompson, revised second edition, Oxford University Press, London, ૧૯૪૮. (Many of his Western readers practically ceased their reading of him(Tagore) with his fine translation of Kabir) See the Epilogue, p.૨૯૭ and passim.

The Letters of W. B. Yeats, edited by Allan Wade. Rupert Hart-Davis, London, ૧૯૫૪, p.૫૭૨-૭૩. In November, ૧૯૧૨, Yeats wrote to Edmund Gosse in the following terms: I think it would be a imaginative and notable thing for us to elect him(Tagore) to our Committee.(The Committee remains unspecified.) He is the great poet of Bemgal though eligible for election because of his English translation of his work alone. I think from the English point of view too it would be a fine thing to do, a piece of wise imperialism, for he is worshipped as no poet of Europe is. I will not tell you which page yo turn to for though he is unequal and there are dull pages, yo will not read far without coming to great beauty. I believe that if we pay him honour, it will be understood that we honour India also for he is its most famous man today.

Rabindranath Tagore in Germany, Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi, ૧૯૬૧.(Hours with Rabindranath Tagore, Paul Natorp) The Calcutta Municipal Gazette: Tagore Memorial Supplement, ૧૯૪૧. The excellent Chronicle of Eighty Years gives a fairly full summary of the political cross-currents, but probably all the facts have not yet been documented.

Goethe: Jeanne Ancelet-Hustache, tr. By Cecily Hastings, Grove Press, New York, ૧૯૬૦.

On Poetry and Poets: T. S. Eliot, Faber & Faber, London, ૧૯૫૭. (Goethe as the Sage)

Tagore as a Lyric Poet: Sudhindranath Datta, Quest, Calcutta, May, ૧૯૬૧.

Joseph and his Brothers: Thomas Mann, tr. by H. T. Lowe-Porter, Knopf, New York, ૧૯૪૮.

૫. સીમાંતે

Rabindranath Tagore: Poet and Dramatist, Edward Thompson, revised second edition, Oxford University Press, London, ૧૯૪૮. (Epilogue)

Rousseau and Romanticism: Irving Babbit, Meridian Books, New York, ૧૯૫૫.
